About

I turn numbers into pictures to help people understand things, or I coördinate projects which do.

I’m the Senior Manager for Commercial BI in the Data & Analytics team at Asda in Leeds, UK. Before that I was a Tableau and Alteryx consultant at The Information Lab. In a previous life, I researched the neuroscience of language at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, before switching to industry to spend more time cleaning data and less time cleaning electrodes.

This blog is about data preparation, data visualisation, and whatever else crops up in the course of my data work. This blog used to be about my PhD research on sound-symbolism and synaesthesia, and also about my thoughts on wider issues within language research and academia in general, and all that is still archived on here.
